
Located about 49km from Denpasar District precisely in Dawan, Klungkung, or about 10km east of the City Semarapura. Not known for sure who the founding and establishment at Pura Goa Lawah but this temple was founded by the MPU Kuturan expected in the fourth century 11.Pura inhabited by thousands of bats is included as one of Khayangan Jagat temple.
When entering the temple, it will be seen two large banyan tree in a park area is quite spacious and very well maintained. Then go into the middle of the room, it will be found three bale in three complex angles. Bale or open building with no roof, usually used to prepare an offering or a place for the ensemble to play their instruments.
If you enter in the middle, it is likely that visitors will not see a big temple, but the old temples and of course a cave filled with bats called Bat Cave. This middle section also has a Shiva temple, which in essence has been venerated since around 1000 BC. There are also paintings Naga Basuki in a bale which is said to believe that the dragon is able to maintain the balance of the earth. Someone once said that a prince of Mengwi been hiding in this cave in order to cover the cave tunnel and follow the path that appears in the Pura Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung.
